Scarrow wanted to sell its insulated jackets at a ten-day winter market, in the open square. The cabin had to survive wind and rain, fit into the market’s overnight access slot, and give people a reason to try a jacket on.
We built a larch-clad cabin on a ballasted steel base, so nothing was fixed into the square’s paving. It arrived in eleven modules on two trucks and was weathertight in one overnight shift.
Inside, a walk-in booth runs at −5 °C using a hired refrigeration unit. Shoppers put on a jacket, stepped in for a minute, and came out knowing whether it worked.
Stock sits on pegboard walls that were cut to the size of Scarrow’s own store fixtures. When the market closed, the pegboard went straight into two of their shops.
The cabin modules are in our storage bays, waiting for next winter.
